ribblehead cave : entrance blockage

hi - went for a mooch down ribble head cave on saturday [ march 24th ]

and found the entrance to the lower cave blocked by boulders - lots of boulders :(

the slot to the side of it smelt ripe , and was full of speeh bits - but i got in far enough to see that the connection was blocked too

the entrance was slumped last year when the CPC visited it - but passable with care

any one know anything about the blockage ?

and any plans to get permission to dig it out and stabilise the hole ?

CNCC is aware of the problem and is negotiating with the landowner to agree a way forward.
We may be calling for volunteers experienced in this type of work before too long. In the meantime I would advise keeping to the caves on the open moor across the road. Gunnerfleet Cave is particularly fragrant since it underwent a major clean up a couple of years ago( by CNCC volunteers)

hey thanks andy - will postpone my attempt to revisit the upper cave

yeah gunnerfleet is bonkers - been 3 times now - and reccomended it to everyone who will listen to me - all 3 off them :P

well done on the cleanup and entrance clearing

keep us informed if a working party is required to open the ribblehead lower cave - i want to go back there too - now i know where i went wrong last time
