The CNCC website is now live: http://cncc.org.uk/

Constructive comments are welcome (to me) via the contacts page on the website.

Cheers,

Glenn

Well done.

It looks very good, I'm sure that you will now receive many positive responses from the caving community.  ;)

Here's one! A good site that will hopefully reduce the number of queries doubtless being dealt with by the CNCC Officers.
:clap2: :clap2:

Quite surprised to read some of the things on the Leck Fell FAQs - in places it seems a bit "honest" to be live on the internet. Definitely worth people reading, though, if they are not happy with the Permit System.

In an effort to be helpful, rather than criticse an otherwise very impressive job, there do seem to be a number of inaccuracies in the "Access Agreements" Section under "Guides & Agreements". They appear to have been taken straight out of the Handbook without being updated. There are also a few typos and apostrophes missing. Glenn - I'm very happy to make a list of all these if it's any use to you.

Well done everyone involved.

It's very good - certainly looks fabbier than CSCC's site! (sorry, CSCC websitey persons  :-[)

The access info for Out Sleets Beck Pot is incorrect (mind you, LOTS of access info is out of date all over the country so this isn't really surprising: what is surprising is that it takes someone from miles away to point it out which, presumably is because either no-one visits the cave or no-one actually bothers to call on the landowner to ask for access or, if they do, they don't tell anyone to update the guidebooks or access info afterwards!... or - and this is most likely - the poor old beleagured Access chappie/chappess is snowed under with stuff to do and has to prioritise their efforts accordingly and will get around to doing so access info updating one day or when the website access info page officer is around and they can have a meeting, a nice cup of tea, a slice of cake each and spend some time poring over a hot keyboard to update the database/scribbled list/scratched slate, whatever). Anyhow, on calling at Manor Farm, Halton Gill (like wot you're told to do) I was informed that they ceased to have ownership of the relevant land YEARS ago and that cavers should call at Pen-y-Ghent House and ask the farmer/landowner there - they were quite happy about granting access and told me where to park etc..).

I think the Info for Hagg Gill is also out of date.

I believe it's now Yockenthwaite Farm. Not sure who told me this though.

A nicely put together website...

But mask the email addresses so they don't get spam trawled they're 'en clar' which is a very very bad idea!!
A simple bit of Javascript will do it.

Well done Glenn - really useful, especially the references to where to find surveys.

Is the intention ultimately to try and list access info for all sites in Northern Caves?  If so, would liaison with the team currently working on the new editions be worthwhile?  Exploratory cavers often need info about obscure sites as well as the more popular caves.  This would be top of my wish list anyway.

Good stuff!
