Caving in the Costa Blanca

Hi,

After successfully organising a caving/canyoning/snorkling/drinking holiday last year for 15 BEC I am now looking for another location for a holiday this year.

I have been recommended the Costa Blanca as a secret little diamond to visit.  Alas no canyoning but there are lots of caves.

Does anyone on here know anything about caves in the Costa Blanca?  If so could they contact me on busty_caver@hotmail.com

Also if anyone else knows somewhere hot, cheap to fly to, with caves and snorkling and possibly canyoning please let me know.  I've already done Austria (too cold and not wet enough) and Majorca (perfect).

many thanks,
Hannah

Er, what time of year were you thinking of going?

There are local Speleo groups that will be happy to help, but you have to be nice to them.

Certainly canyons around the Costa Blanca, I was in some not two months ago.  Try getting hold of this book:

http://www.cicerone.co.uk/product/detail.cfm/book/508/title/canyoning-in-souther

I didn't bother looking into the caving available in the area.  Either there're so amazing no-one told me about them, or they are so crap no-one told me about them.

If you want cheap and hot like Majorka try the Costa Del Sol.  If you want expensive and hot try Sardinia.  There are nice canyons in Sardinia too, but check to see when the best time of year is otherwise they might be dry.

No there are plenty of caves & limestone near Valencia

There are a few reasonable trips in this awesome book
GRANDES CUEVAS Y SIMAS DEL MEDITERRANEO. GUIA FOTOGRAFICA
http://tiendaverde.es/ficha.php?id=1350&lang=en
(i've only done one of them Els Sumidors & it was a nice day out)
Sima de la Llenca de Serrano (Tous - Valencia)
Sima del Campillo (Tous - Valencia)
Els Sumidors (Vallada- Valencia)

The most worthwhile cave in the area looks to be (worth the drive)
Los Chorros
http://viniloasesino.dyndns.org/~granchaman/croquis/chorros/chorros2/chorros2.pdf

and yes plenty more down towards Alicante see

Hi guys,

Thanks for the information.  I've got the Cicerone book which looks like it has 7 average difficulty trips which is good.  I'm looking for accommodation now.  Needless to say I don't want to stayin Benidorm although I don't want to stay in an over 60's retirement complex either.

Does anyone know any good apartments/ villa or even just an area which is nice with bars, restaurants and perhaps close to a beach for snorkling?

many thanks,
Hannah
