    Charity challenges

I think this is partly why I felt a bit uneasy about it. Also feels like a pressure to follow through on something when it's for charity and the sump sort of feels like something you wouldn't want the pressure to go through. Large scale events on popular mountains cause a lot of wear and tear...

Preferably is a bit open to interpretation!

    Charity challenges

Saw an advert for a charity challenge where the challenge was to go to sump 1 Swildons. I guess it's essentially a led trip, so in theory no different to any other led trip into the cave. Not seen a cave used as part of a charity challenge before, wondered if its any different from someone...

    Sallys Rift

Watch out for ticks, it's infested with them there. May be too early for them to be out, but who knows with the all over the place weather conditions we've had.

Access Restored to Singing River Mine, Shipham

Was one of my first caving trips (on a ladder!), so have a soft spot for this cave/ mine - thanks so much to those who worked on negotiating access, much appreciated.

Photography Showcase 3 per week limit

Not the best photos, Pierre's Pot. Not the cave to visit if you have a bad back!

    Cave snacks

I use a platypus bottle which is like a capri sun but more reusable for multiple trips.

    wellie recommendations

Any recommendations for those with slim legs? The Dunlop ladies/kids fit but aren't as robust as the mens, but the mens are far too big around the leg..

What to wear for a Swildons short round trip

I'm terrified of going under water so haven't been through many times, didn't realise it was now a duck most of the time, had assumed it was just in dry weather. Might have to go back and see!

What to wear for a Swildons short round trip

Depends on the caver, as I've gotten dangerously cold in just a furry on wet trips.

What to wear for a Swildons short round trip

Same here, I've gotten close to hypothermia on wet trips. Depends on lots of things, season at time of trip (water colder in winter), body weight of caver, how many people on trip, if there's a wait at the 20. Personally I wear a wetsuit if going below the 20. Possibly also depends on your...

    Batteries (for duo)

Hi all, I've been out of action caving wise for the last few years and my duo batteries could do with replacing. I've used rechargeable Eneloops which have lasted for years. Just checking if there is anything better on the market or if I should just replace with the same ones again. Thanks :)

    Go pro case

Thanks so much for all the really detailed responses everyone. Annoyingly it doesn't look like they do a Roll Cage for the 9 which I have, so looks like I'll need to get a waterproof case to give it any sort of protection. Do you have any of your videos you've made online @MendipScoutCaver ...

    Go pro case

Hi, Does anyone use a go pro to film underground (not helmet or chest mounted) if so what do you use the protect the camera? There's various case options such as a silicone case or plastic waterproof case. Can't afford the genuine waterproof case but there's lots of knock off cheaper versions...

    Bleadon Cavern

Hi, In Mendip underground the contact to arrange a leader trip to Bleadon Cavern is Nick Richards, but the address is bouncing back. Wondered if Nick was still the contact and if anyone could DM me correct contact details. Thanks in advance!
