Well, what can I say? A weekend to remember..........!

After planing the weekend for some time, we gathered at Castleton on Friday evening as per norm, even though on the night before we found out that the accommodation we thought we were having had not been booked and all Bunkhouses had been leased. Not to be put-off, we took the brave choice to Camp at the site..........in December...........when it's friggin' cold.........and wet..........

Mistake number 1.....

Had all intentions of visiting the TSG mob at their AGM and say hello. Unfortunately, a pub in Hope with a disco playing kinda sideswiped us and we fell outa there some time after midnight (after watching a punch-up and everything)..........sorry!

All day Saturday was spent on some above ground SRT training, before packing our gear and heading up North towards Yorkshire Dales...........via a party in Wakefield we had been invited to.

Doh....! Mistake number 2.

Finally fell out of the party at 3.30am and made it back to the place we were staying. Needless to say that plans for getting up early kinda went out of the window!

Sunday. Awake at about 10ish. Bit later than anticipated, but hey.....
Sitting around at breakfast, it was decided (primarily by me...!) that we would still do the trip to Clapham and go to Bar Pot. Into the mini-bus like lambs to the slaughter (!) and we're off. In via Bernie's Cafe to pick up some hire stuff and into Clapham.

It was a bit worrying when we got to the car park and saw everyone else leaving, but it was still daylight and we had enough time left to get to the system.............or so we thought :(

After some of the team kitted up in their gear (Mistake number 3) and full of joy and anticipation, we started the hike up to the Pot.

It was about the region of Ingleborough Cave that it then got dark. Not a problem says we and continued forth. Then the mist fell and by the time we had reached the small ravine, we could see all of 3 foot in front of us. Then, to top it all off, the temperature dropped.

By the time we reached the styles at the stone wall, everyone was miserable, cold, wet and exhausted...........and that was before even contemplating the trip underground.

With safety of the group in mind (and the fact that we could not find the entrance due to the mist and the fact it was bloomin' dark), it was decided to turn around and head back to the transport.

We were no more than 10 metres away from Bar Pot entrance

So, yet another eventfull weekend. Didn't quite go to plan, but still a marvellous time!

:)
