Let's face it a lot of brilliant bands are in decline. However there are a few stalwarts that are continuing. So, what are the best bands ever that are still going on in one guise or another?
I'll start with the following that have been going on for the last 50 years or so. As ever comments and contributions welcome.

Peter Gabriel as a solo artist - bought a CD of his latest "I/O" which was released in December so still pretty current. Also U2 of course.

I am surprised nobody has mentioned 10cc who we saw the other day. Few bands would play an entire album straight through which is what they did a few years ago. It certainly prompted us to see their latest tour. Some of the wittiest and most entertaining pop/rock ever produced. Then there is Camel - still going after 50 years. Cream are in their second incarnation by the way as the sons of Ginger Baker and Jack Bruce with Eric Clapton's nephew are doing a good job performing the old songs.

The Wurzels have been going since the 60s and are surprisingly good live, especially considering the fact that I think apart from the drummer they're all in their mid 80s

Steeleye Span. Though they change their line-up so frequently I don't know whether they count.

Presumably when every original member has either left or died, it's difficult to really maintain a straight face. That's the point when a band loses enough neutrons that it decays into a brand ;)

And it's Eric Clapton's 79th birthday today coincidentally - and he's another who is still playing.

Let's not forget Kid Creole and the Coconuts. We had that August Darnell living down the road for years, in the former mining town of Dinnington, near Rotherham. Can't remember why exactly, but it's true.

Judas Priest are still going & Rob H doesn't seem to have lost much of his voice either - unlike a lot of old vocalists, who seem to be lip syncing half the time!
