Author David McAnelly, A5 softback 108 pages ?12 to non members
This is a fascinating study of working Miners Lives, it provides an insight into accidents and causes. It dispels certain ideas of dangerous activities when mining. These findings are backed up with tables of statistics, with quotes from Medical advisors and consultants . The author looks at the decline of the industry and political effects of rise and fall of lead prices. The housing and living conditions for Miners around Alston was much better than other parts of the UK although the Miners died much younger with Pulmonary Conditions
