Calling all divers

I always use knives rather than those specialised cutting devices because I've never had a problem cutting anything with my knives and also because a traditional knife is so much more versatile a tool. But each to their own.  (y)

Each to their own indeed, but possibly, the issue with a knife could be that it is too good at cutting stuff. Using shears means that you should only cut the thing between the blades & not the thing just beyond it.

When you get the shot rope wrapped around the prop shaft try cutting that off with shears. A knife works every time shears do not and after 25 years in diving I would say dont bother with them.

Both have merits.

Both have faults.

I know plenty of divers who carry both. I just carry a knife.

Actually yes it does - don't ever let loose line get near a scooter propeller or you will certainly be glad of a simple knife.

Well I finally managed to finish my Open Water course, only took me about 9 months

The dive after the awful time was a bit funny but nothing much. After the last few dives I felt fine, so all is good now.

Time to get out and learn what its really about  ;)
