Carrying spare AA batteries

Hmm yes serious, though i learnt a little lesson a couple of weeks after when i tried to take the batteries out and use them.

I should have realised the last time when i forgot to charge my main batteries and found myself in the white river with little light, i tried my backups that time and they were F'ed. it does make for an interesting experience caving on a duo on the lowest setting, but still you know you've got plenty of time!

So for a year after that i'd had a new set of batteries sitting in my makeshift s'tbox and had made sure my main batteries were well charged.

Come the easter egg hunt, i found myself running about peak, hunting down the clues. Going halfway along colostomy for fun! And then back again. (And i'd forgotten to charge the batteries).
Our final two clues were toadstool aven closely followed by moss chamber, i was without kneepads crawling my way along to toadstool. My own Energy level were just crashing so i stopped for a yorkie bar halfway, and then continued to crawl to toadstool. When i'd stopped here i was thinking my light was a bit dim as well, so when i got to toadstool i thought i'd replace them for some new batteries from THE BOX!

Nothing, zilch, sqrt^(FA).

So i think i've learnt my lesson! Better storage box. And i guess a better rotation of spare batteries.

I've recently ordered a replacement, i hope it will fit 4AA's,

but obviously it will need testing, and i wont know for a couple of years whether i can trust it.
But when they've found some wetsocks they can send with it. i might actually receive it, and know whether it will fit the AA's.

I'll update you either way. And let you know if it feels like it will fall apart the first time you crawl on it.
