Caswell's Hardware store closes

Not old enough myself, but apparently local Mendip cavers use to buy their carbide and other kit from Caswell's in Midsomer Norton. Shutters closed for the last time today.

That's sad. I've happy memories of getting our gelignite from there.

I remember we bought our first caving helmets and carbide lamps there. Still got em in fact although they are now museum pieces.

I tried to buy gelignite in the Coop in Radstock recently and someone called the police?
