John Muir, born in Dunbar in 1838, was a Scottish naturalist and ecologist. He co-founded the Sierra Club and was a driving force for conservation of the natural environment, especially in the western United States. "John Muir Day" is celebrated in California on his birthday, 21st April. Here is a song about Muir and his work.
