P0: like a desert. No water. eg some parts of Alderley Edge West Mine.
P1-2: small amounts of optional water/puddles. eg Wapping Cumberland mine
P3-4: above wellie depth, mandatory water. eg Bagshawe Main series
P5-6: Maybe isolated significant wetness, but full immersion not required. Eg Bagshawe lower series
P7-8: Small areas of dryness but significantly soggy. Wetsuits recommended. eg Giants Round trip
P9: not one bit of dryness left on your body. eg Giants East Canal, probably
P10: monsoon like. Sporting. Wetsuits mandatory. Maybe you misread the weather forecast or freedived something. eg Swildons sump 1

The P scale is named after a trip to P8 with Dean, Alison, Judith and Matt that also was "a P8".

I only know of 2 grades
1 Dry and dusty. - Anything up to neck deep.
2 Barely above ankle deep. - You'll be swimming.

How about adding a P0(xlow): Definitely a dry trip, until you get soaked through by intermittent dripping before remembering how wet the wet pitch actually is.

Don't think I can cope with a P scale that doesn't correspond to the other P numbers! Gunna be really confusing if P3 (Gautries) is actually P8 and P12 (Giants) is really to be found somewhere between P7 and P9!

& I thought it was going to be related to the amount of beer your drank previous night...
