Charterhouse roofing supplies

I was taking the kids a walk around Blockmoor Reserve yesterday. There were loads of ~2ft squares of felt and corrugated roof material spread out over a large area, from the central car park out past the first pool, around the near and far side of the pool. Curiosity piqued. What's it about? Is it marking out for some aerial photography or similar?

Maybe to attract reptiles? Perhaps to do a survey. They like to shelter under such things & there's always been lots of Adders up there.

Not just reptiles, small rodents and some minibeasts are attracted to these kind of things, almost sure its some sort of wildlife survey.

The AONB/SWT and other leaders use it to show groups adders which are attracted to the heat the materials retain. So do lift the covers with care.
Cheers
