One of our novices really wanted a photograph taken in the Cwm Dwr crawl. We oblige.
Now this one worked from the first attempt, and no one fell head first into the stream.
No, no we assure you, caving is fun. Just look at those stalactites, aren't they fun?

An ingenious use of a laser pen and long exposure
Shaun, Deri, Will and Roberystwyth show off their helmets. Mental note - Never borrow an orange helmet again.

It has been great for Chunky and myself to see so many fun shots entered into the competition showing that a great time is being had above and below ground by the next generation of cavers. We have to say that in judging we have today seen some holes tighter and more intimidating than any we have ever dared attempt to enter, it seems so many cannot afford basic caving kit....
Three groups stood out to us.
In third place were Aberystwyth
Clearly a friendly bunch, but then they would need to be if they are using communal club orange helmets. We loved the creativity of the shots and the innovative use of the laser pointer in cave photography.
In second place were ULSA
These are a fine set of photos. We were impressed how well they had lit the 'black holes'. Although a little concerned about naked abseiling with pineapples lurking at the bottom of pitches. These contained some technically great shots and really made us smile.
The winners we judged to be SUSS
Here we were treated to a great selection of creative shots. We loved the "Iwo Jima" pastiche shot of the planting of the flag, and both of us were particularly amused at the shot of the cavers legs emerging from the roof of the passage.
We look forward to seeing many more photos from the weekends events in the coming days.

Thanks very much to Dudley Bug and Chunky for judging our photos and picking SUSS as a winner!
