    An informative discussion

Recently there was long thread about the BCA. I can now post possible answers to some of the questions, such as "Why is the BCA still raising membership prices when there is a significant amount still left in its coffers?"

A credit to the quality of the clue!

Try this...

Too hard for you? It's true that it's an obscure location in NC1, but I thought the wordplay was fairly standard cryptic fare..

Lante Shop Cave?

(I assume that 'the French dance' is LA HOP, and 'look out' is the Latin 'cave', but I don't see what represents the soldier.)

I think the French is plural (les) and soldier is (ant). That works. Well done on the hard bits.

Thanks, Tritim, I never thought of ants . . . I was trying to fit in something like 'GI' for soldier!

Yes indeed, Fulk, lANTes HOP cave it is, and Tritim is right about soldier being ANT - I guess not everyone spends as much time doing Guardian crosswords as I - it's a fairly common device there!

Anyway - take it away!
