The training day this Saturday serves a number of purposes i.e.
  • It is an induction day for probationary members.
  • It is an introduction day for cavers thinking of applying for membership or even just wanting to know more about DCRO and how it does things.
  • It is a revision day for any team member but especially those unable to attend much/any other training.
  • It is a revision day for any team member but especially those unable to attend much/any other training.

Those attending will be divided into groups to circulate around a number of sessions during the day i.e.
  • Introduction to DCRO - what it does, how it operates and what equipment it holds.
  • Stretchers -  loading and carrying in the smoke house confined space training basement.
  • Rigging for hauling - exercise on drill tower.
  • Communications - radios, Heyphones, single wire phones, procedures and log keeping.
  • Basic underground first aid - including an introduction to the kit DCRO carries.

Sessions will be held in and around the DCRO base at the Buxton Fire and Rescue Centre, Staden Lane, Buxton SK17 9RZ. The fire station is at the junction of Staden Lane and the A515 Ashbourne road on the Southern edge of Buxton (NGR SK. 069718)
