Dismal hill to old ing

Hi, just wondering if anyone knew if you can get to old ing from dismal hill. As I have heard that you can get there without the sump, but I has seen mother written or anything on surveys that say you can.

Cheers Arran!

Yes, dropping down the new (pitch?) entrance to Dismal places you right near the start of the connection, or for a longer trip (more fun IMO) go in the original entrance. Heading upstream you'll reach a pool with traverse line on the right, follow that to short dry passage. You then pop out over the water again, follow the tat to a climb up. Climb up the waterfall, follow passage, short distance on left is the small/snug connection to the main part of Old Ing. A simplified view of a short but fun trip!

It's a good trip - doesn't take long, but has plenty of variety and challenges.  Neoprene is recommended, unless it's very dry.
I'd certainly go in the 'old' entrance, then you can dispense with SRT kit.
Be warned though, Mick's End really is quite low, so larger-boned cavers may have to be prepared to turn round.
