Some of the ropes belong to myself and Richard Hudson, others belong to Rick Stanton etc.
The ropes are left in situ to make it easier to carry out survey work beyond the sumps.
I would prefer that no-one else uses any of the in-situ ropes. Mainly because of wear and tear, and also many of them are of dubious condition and could result in an accident for the unwary.
People have used our ropes before, left them hanging down pitches (which destroys them in floods) stolen hangers and maillons, therefore if you want to go down Gingling, please take your own ropes. It's an easy cave and a few tackle bags shouldn't be a problem.
Please ensure that you also have a permit/permission!
Thanks
