Go pro settings for underground

Hi can any one offer any experience or advice on optimal settings for underground filming on a go pro hero 3+ silver addition?

I only have experience of the Hero2 but I don't use the widest setting as it is a bit weird to watch IMO. The best thing I did for my GoPro was get a 1500 lm lamp, they need lots of light for quality footage.

Highest frame rate possible in my experience, allows you to slow it down in editing if necessary. I use 1080p 60fps on mine, not sure if the silver has that ? Plenty of light is the main thing and keeping it stable

Yes its got 1080 but if i reduce it to 720 (which is apparently better in low light) have tested in garden it seems brighter and also i can whack the fps up to 90 fps i think? What fov did you ise if not wide? Narrow or medium?

Wow 90fps ! That's very high... Maybe 60 maximum then unless you want super slow motion !

I tried mine at 12 fps in the 4k mode to film some caving and its looks all jumpy when watching people cave at normal speed.

Apologies for jumping in on your thread, but how do people mount their cameras?

I'm looking to helmet mount it onto an old style ACE Kayak helmet for diving, can I just stick the standard gopro mount that came with it onto the front or will that make all the filming results at a funny angle?

Cheers
