Alastair, good to see you're on with things in there. I'm sure one of those AMCs was what Big Jim had a poke at for a while, till we hit a solid wall?

Sorry a missed the plot a little for a long time, yes i'm sure jim's was avenmouth cave no 1.

I've got straight line phreatic with laminated sediment.
The lamination turned to 30degrees from horizontal as it passed around a block which was removed by poor capping practice (see other topic) and plugs and feathers. The passage roof (solid) is now trending sharply upwards through fill (sediment) and the left and right walls have also bowed out, to total width of shoulder to outstretched fist and body between(left-right).
The walls have scallops on them.

Interesting to see that youre having a crack at that 'hole' Alistair. Rob is right, after Convenience cave a few of us had a poke at several holes around the quarry. I think the first being the one called Aven Mouth 1 where myself and several SUSS members cleared out quite a lot of fill over several digs. We did that one first as we noticed someone had scratched 'Reserved' into the rock above the hole (we guessed it was Robbie Shone that had done this, something Robbie later confirmed).  Rob, Katie and myself then had a few digs at AM2 - we were digging right at the top of it but only had a couple of sessions. Bounce almost got squished when I dislodged a loose rock to the side of the hole when climbing down!  We didn't call them AM1/2 at the time though..... all the holes we poked around were just given names EQ2,3,4 etc. Its all documented in an Eldon newsletter (bet Rob can find it).  I think Pete Mellors gave names to some of the digs whilst surveying in there as part of his access negotiations after the access ban. I certainly didn't name the small dig that myself and Katie started 'Alder's Dream Hole'.

Good luck with it anyway (y)
