In stoke lane last night and found lots of bits of black and yellow tape tied  all over the place marking the way () at least to sump 1

Anyone claiming a reason for it?-'cus otherwise it's coming out next time I'm in there!

Aye, difficult to get lost in there! Would of sorted it there and then but the Frome girlies were getting chilly (its tough looking after them :-[). Through the sump for them next time

Not a good move get rid of it please.
The Caves in the condition it is because of it's Natural Gate.
If people are needing to put Tape in to route find & leaving it in place are they capable of responsibly keeping it in it's current condition ?
Maybe it's time to remove the Tatty Sump Line ?
Stoke is one of my Favorite Caves I was a bit concerned when I found all the broken Straws above sump 2 last Month !
Cheers Paul

I'm glad the tatty sump line was there when I went for the first (and thus far only) time as ducking to get into that bit past the rocks to get to the sump looked so unpleasant that I'd have been really reluctant to go in to see if it was where the sump was...so maybe it's a good idea for it not to be there! On the other hand, it's a nice reassurance that you haven't just found some unfreedivable nightmare that you're about to plunge to your death in.

Next time I'll go through but at that time I expected the sump not to have a line on, it was only on here that I found out the bailer twine had been added.

took the tape out this morning, left the bailer twine in place at the sump though...probably best for first time visitors who can find their way that far  ;) to know they're in the right place and, like Christian said not about to embark on some unfreediveable nightmare  (y)

They must be Irish - only ever found marker string in Ireland!  BTW Jim Eyres article on Sumping written for the Speleologist in the 60's is one of the funniest articles I have ever read and will strike a chord with anybody who has dived the sump.
