Hi Roy.

Idle chat is for general chat about anything - as Pegasus says.  Personally I think it wise to keep clear of politics and religion but they always find a way in some how.  I believe even you have engaged.  I suspect the OP was being a bit mischievous with his post - mainly because he usually is, but you don't need to look at it and you don't need to reply.  Adit Now is a fine site and one we respect but we are different places and I don't want to get into removing topics just because they don't meet some caving standard or other - impossible to moderate.  Nearly everything on here is cave related but the few other topics give cavers a chance to air their views if they wish...

Cheers  (y)

Gina Miller promised that, after the High court's ruling (either way) she would leave the matter alone.

She stated, openly, that she was only interested in the proper process being followed.

Now look where she is .....

This is the problem when (some) minority don't get there own way. They lie, they deceive, they con, they twist, they spin and they distort.

They stop at almost nothing to force the minority view onto the majority.

Some resort to guns and bombs when they can't have what they want - hey presto! We are back on topic.

Notice any similarities going on elsewhere?

Wales voted 50.2% in favour of it's own assembly and 49.8% against.

I voted against and lost.

I dealt with it by accepting the outcome and moving on.

I respected the wishes of the majority.

Seriously, people need to get a grip.

Ian
Yes but by that argument UKIP et all should have shut up and gone away after the previous referendum. But they didn't because it was their right in a free country not to.

Whilst I believe in free speech lets stick to caving politics on this forum please.

This topic does cover caving.  Whilst researching Caves of Co Cork I came across a cave with an IRA arms cache.  I fondled the AK 47 Kalashnikov but realised I would not get a licence for it.  So I made do with a Beretta.  I choose the .22 calibre as the ammo is easier to obtain than the larger calibre.  I of course informed the Gardia, but not before I was over the border.  By the way I used the name Paul Allen of the SVCC.

I think Roys probably correct there.

No doubt a print out of that post has crossed an Analysts desk at GCHQ this morning.

Those of us who were around at the time of the Irish troubles would be aware of the terrible loss of life and pain perpetuated.
That people came together to put an end to that violence was one of the greatest achievements in these lands especially as it has gone on for centuries....

With the word Guiness in there some people might have thought it was about the quality of stout in McGanns.

The quality in McGann's has always been good - it's just the way the price leapt between my last regular visit in 1988 and my next visit in 2012.

McGann's seemed to have devoted itself to the American coach tour group meals market when we returned, so we mostly patronised McDermott's instead.
