Or is that too sensible....

I can think of other examples of leadership systems where, after time, leaders have been drafted in from other clubs. the fact is that we all age & eventually the leadership roster for any cave/mine has to be reviewed & refreshed.

On the other hand, I can also think of one cave where although the nominated leaders are drawn from several clubs, in effect the vast majority of trips have been led by members of just one club.

Horses for courses.

I don't know the situation in N. Wales particularly & so, unlike some, I will not criticise what has been done, I merely wish to add a bit of wider perspective, where I can.

Seems sensible to me.

There seem to be two entrenched positions in this debate and neither are prepared to admit that the other side might, just maybe, possibly have the tiniest point.  o_O

Does that mean it's time for US air strikes then?  ..."Amy" is flying over soon, so look's like that's sorted!

But obama said no boots on the ground, so Amy best be wearing shoes!

Anyway that solution does seem suitable but from what I can see on here GCC don't seem willing to speak to other clubs :(

Jason, an excellent contribution to this long standing debate, though it would be a minor miracle if those directly involved gave it more than just a fleeting, and possibly dismissive, glance.

Maybe the best thing would be for UU to be persuaded to restart negotiations with anybody who is interested, not just the incumbent!

Somebody must know somebody.

I'm just wondering if the GCC would like to comment on the reports that they are cancelling trips stating they have "lost access", when in fact they are, as usual, still in the system.

Bumping this as at least one of them is going to be notified, and they are damn hard to get hold of at the moment.

You know full well that access is avaliable to Milwr tunnel even if it is not via Olwyn Goch shaft!
You have been running a hate campaign about it for ages.

Might i suggest that it is YOU the clubs don't want after all the grief that you have given them. :-\

It's typical caving club nonsense. "We have a special access agreement, in order to come with us on our special trips, you must jump all of these hurdles, pass all of these criteria and do it next monday at 3.23pm........with no more than 4 of you and you must all use dynamic cowstails, wear a flower in your helmet and turn up in a brown car".

"Oh sorry, the trip has been cancelled".

If Milwr was down in Cornwall, the entrance would have been dug out, the lock would have been compromised and no-one would have been told and all would be fine and dandy, as long as no-one told the people in the office of hysterics that some naughty vandals have gone chopping their lock off and put in imminent danger all of the children, fluffy animals and poor people with sad faces.

Have I ever encountered a pursuit filled with such an incredible bunch of likeminded amazing people? No.

Have I encountered a pursuit filled with clubs who contain an access officer who makes hitler look like Jeremy Corbyn? No.

I'm sure the best thing to do is leave the little club managers with their unique access agreements and silly nonsense to draw up special contracts with the relevant authorities, put a special gold key in the special safe somewhere and then make others jump through hurdles in vain.

This is nothing about access, risk and liability and everything about people being bellends.

At least its just about Possible to get access to the Milwr Tunnel...and most people are aware of either the OGS and the hoops needed to get a trip...and the "other entrance" in the River valley where the keyholders are significantly more flexible...

I've actually been into the Milwr Tunnel...its not a figment of someones imagination...even given the GCCs usual truculence and obfuscation!

Compare and contrast with Cornish Access...

??? I've asked before but the usual response is...oh no! No mines round here mate...what you talking about? Maps/Topo's/Grid Refs...are you kidding...your family haven't lived within 5 miles of Cambourne for 3 generations...so you've got bob hope!

I don't need a trip into the Milwr, but another club has been messed around and cancelled on. And GCC use Coed Hendre, not OG.

Might want to think before jumping to conclusions.
