Met my mate Dave in Inglesport cafe just before 9am and by 10am we were changed and ready to climb down the entrance. We were soon through the entrance series and into the Hobbit and off towards Dusty Junction.Showed Dave the way to Link Pot and Red Wall chamber and we continued through the crawl to Hall of the Ten, past the drop down into Ratbag inlet. Climbed up the other side Hall of the Ten and past the way on to Gour Hall, which we decided to leave for another day. Then, into the Hall of the Mountain King, with all its glutenous vastness, and pornographic mud sculpture! At the bottom dropped through the muddy hole into Leck Fell Lane and went past the Mistral waterfall as far as where the Misty Mountain Series goes off. On the way back marvelled at the formations in Leck Fell Lane and back up to Hall of the Mountain King, where we had a look at the Wellington Traverse - which we did not compete as we decided it would have benefitted from a bit of protection, right at the end. After this we headed for Ratbag Inlet (the climb down through the boulders does seem a bit dodgy by the way) and went up as far as where Pip comes in.Then headed out after a good trip.

Washed all the mud off our gear at Bull Pot Farm, courtesy of RRCPC who have kindly provided some brushes for this purpose. It was very quiet on the fell today, with just one other party down Cow Pot, and another in Aygill. Also the RRCPC diggers were out.

I was home by three and in the shower half an hour later. Not a bad day I would say.Conference next weekend and then another trip the weekend after!

:D Yes its a brill cave, although a little despoilt in places by the passage of hundreds of feet. Leck fell lane is still ok however and there are some fine formations. Its a cave of true contrasts, with both wet and wild sections and dry and dusty passages. It wont be long before I`m down again !

Was that on Sunday? There were quite a few groups on the fell on Saturday. I went down Lancaster Hole (my first time into Easegill), we went down tto the stream way then went downstream to the sump and upstream to the to the second boulder heap and back out via Lancaster Hole. Thought the stream way was fantastic, perhaps the nicest I have ever been in!

Walked past Lancaster Hole - there was no rope down.Did you go in via an Easegill entrance, or did you use an anti gravity device on Lancaster Hole?

You mention the slightly pornographic mud sculpture in Hall of the Mountain King.
I'm quite impressed this is still in existance as I am the one who sculpted it some time back with a group of freshers. We found the head there and decided it needed a body, but then an argument broke out as to whether to make it male or female so it got both :D

Might have to go check it out again soon with this years batch of lemmings, I mean freshers, they love that entrance series.

We went down Lancaster Hole on Saturday afternoon. I wish there were such things as antigravity devices, would be easier than prussiking

I`ve got one. Its very good. Just attaches to your sit harness.Walk to the top of the pitch, press the power on switch and down button - walk out over the top of the pitch and you drift gently down.No messing about with ropes, ladders, rebelays etc.Same thing going up except press the up button - simple. I have a spare - want to buy it - only take cash however and there is no warranty mind!I offered Wolfart a go with mine - but he declined- wonder why?It might have had something to do with the large amount of male bovine excrement that was nearby.

It`s not a bad effort.Distinct hermaphroditic qualities and also very reminiscent of Henry Moore`s work. You may well have missed your vocation in life. There used to be some really pornograpic mud sculptures down Cherry Tree - and last time I went down Peak there were some real shockers, believe me.

I think the conservationsists would have something to say about this however.Perhaps we should keep our artistic efforts for the surface.

When you next visit, perhaps you could touch it up !!

I first went down Pippikin in 1986 and guess what....we made a mud sculpture in the Hall of Ten consisting of ten extremely pornographic appendages standing in a row.

I wonder who thought of this joke first??? Any earlier memories than 1986?

Maybe cavers are just obsessed with phalluses

I remember coming across a mud pile in the caves below Symonds Yat which had many of such appendages, and several fetching sculptures of "chicks with dicks".

Lamb Leer in the Mendips in 1976 or 1977 - quite a little forest of mud willies!

You must be more obsessed with phalluses than most, Bubba, if thats the sort of thing you are doing.
