Poorly played by Fulk there I think because if he had applied Scrottley's leverage and played the diagonal he could have had Mornington Crescent and finished the game in the proper manner.

He's clearly never read NF Stovold?s Mornington Crescent: Rules and Origins. Shame it's been out of print since before 1978.

Playing the diagonal is always risky, maybe Fulk was playing safe??

I think I understand it now.........

If i were to invoke the Black Abbott thus counteracting the Northern variation, this would bring gameplay in line with the traditional rules, hereby entitling me to call Mornington Crescent!

Do I win?

Sorry, Damo, the 'East Anglia restrictions' do not allow this move.

Alexw, I'm surprised you did not spot this.

Hangs head in shame :cautious:
How could I have been so lax?
I have booked myself on a 3 day boot camp refresher course and will not play again until i have permission from "Le Grande Fromage". :-[

Surely you can still play the 'kitchen & hostel version', maybe not the national 'contract' version until you have renewed your license?

That?s easy for you to say but having lost my mojo I am psychologically disadvantaged and need to spend some time meditating. In the meantime I will play a simple game with few rules and limited choices, something like chess for example.

I note with interest that the Mornington Crescent thread has been moved to Idle Chat. is this actually a legal move?

I might not be fully au fait with the newly revised Broadwoodwidger edition of the internet forum variant (sometimes apparently referred to by the derogative "the Trolls'" edition) but it would seem quite convoluted to get from Mornington Cresent to "Idle Chat" without excessive circumlocution.

I do believe Fossbaggers Variation allows for this move, but only once, and only on a Thursday.

Why would he? He went to BGS.

I would love a round of "Cheddar Gorge" but it is going to rain in Yorkshire tomorrow.

I am happy to play the Roman version "Non iguato Cresseunt" instead.

I was playing the Dr Who time travel version next Wednesday and, just for a change, used the ?Tomb Raider? variations.

I won.
