Orpheus Pub Meet?

I could do with more regular caving and probably joining a club in the Peaks. Do the Orpheus still meet at Smith's Tavern first Wednesday in the month?

Same here! I need more regular caving too..... so I contacted Orpheus last week using their website ( http://www.orpheuscavingclub.org.uk/ ) and they got back to me straight away. They didn't mention needing to attend the pub meet - I just need to give them a call this week (or next) to discuss my abilities and desires etc, and hopefully I'll be able to meet up in the peak at the weekend I've just got back from 3 months away so am tied up this coming weekend (3rd/4th) - I'm hoping to meet up the following weekend (10th/11th).

Yes - some Orpheus members, mainly those who live in or near Ashbourne, go regularly to the Smith's Tavern on the first Wednesday of the month.

However ther will be more about at the Orpheus hut each weekend. Best to check first though (see the OCC website www.orpheuscavingclub.org.uk for contact details).

No - you don't need to turn up ut the Pub - that's just a monthly get-together.

For caving we usually meet up at the hut most weekends. As there are usually 2 weekends a month with arranged trips to other parts of the UK the numbers vary.

Some of us will be in North Wales on the 10th/11th but there may still be some about. email secretary@orpheuscavingclub.org.uk or chairman@orpheuscavingclub.org.uk to check.

Ah - the problem then will be that the Royal Oak is only 2 and 3/4 miles up the High Peak Trail...
