Merry xmas all and greatings from derbyshire....

Planning a weekend down there sometime in the new year , srt competant with several ropes available however not sure on access etc ,

If you had two days down there not having done anything there what would the locals recommend taking into account access etc as probably not got time to organise keys etc as use to deryshire caves you can open with a spenner!

are any gated and locked? if you can recommend a couple that are open I can then do some research on topo guides and surveys etc

cheers in advance guys

Look under the "Access" heading on the CSCC web site for access information.

Swildons is the obvious choice although you will need a 20  foot ladder with spreader for most trips. No key is required, just ?1 per person.

Many Mendip caves are accessed using the Mendip Key which can be borrowed from most Mendip clubs. Where are you staying?

GB is well worth a visit Jon, we found it easy to get the key when we stayed.
Box Mine near Bath is an interesting place if you fancy something different.

in no particular order of preference, and with little or no draconian access arrangements:

Swildons round trip or black hole series
Box mine northern section
Manor Farm
Waterwheel swallet
GB bat passage / great chamber

and if you can arrange access (not too difficult);
Templeton pot
Charterhouse
Grebe Swallet
Reservior hole TFD
