Hi,
I felt I ought to pass this information on to remind clubs not to be too complacent regarding unknown people arriving at club huts. I'm sure that no genuine hut visitor would object to being politely challenged if they are not known to those in residence at the time.
Earlier this morning around 9am, a group of four arrived at the MNRS and appeared at first to the members that were just bugging out as having a legitimate reason to be there (either members or guests perhaps). They proceeded to wander around the hut and into the dormitories. But suspicions were raised when amongst other things they asked if the departing group could leave the door on the latch for them. When the request was declined the driver said that he would get his own key, and went back to the car but then they just drove off. Suspicions raised, the departing group rechecked dormitories and found that some of the window handles had been unlocked, which had already been checked earlier, and could then be opened from outside.
Now maybe there is a legitimate explanation, but there were enough concerns for car reg & details etc to be taken and passed onto the police.
