Why not give this topic a rest for a couple of weeks? I am sure a sensitive soul like you will understand what I mean.

I understand why you suggest this, but by my request it has been severed from its original location so is a different topic now, and is gathering its own momentum, I think it is a valuable and useful debate.
I just can't understand why the Cap'n chose to locate it in Yorkshire, considering these things appear to be happening across the UK., including responses from Mendip, Peak District and The North so far. I also recall an occurence in North Wales recently for which a response is imminent?----

FWIW we had a trip through Swinsto many moons ago when we heard a loud booming. Found a fresh collapse further on which we reported to Inglesport later, resulting in a warning for several months. Sadly I cant recall the year - perhaps somebody else can recall when it was and do a check with BGS records to see if there was a correlation?

Edit - just checked my log book and it would appear to be 8th June1997 - I am now feeling extra old...

Because I was specifically requested to do so, after having earlier posted it in the UK section. You can't please all the people all the time. I can rarely please any of them, but am used to that by now.
