because people have been able to go along that little path and lift up the board covering the entrance for some time and you dont even have to go into their yard to get to it...so why change their minds now? it would be like the people in box who have backdoor in their garden suddenly putting up a big fence round the entrance after all these years of not caring. thats what i mean. kids can still damage their vehicles whether ridge is open or not so whats the point in doing that? it wont deter them, if kids want to smash their windows they still will, i bet those kids didnt even go down ridge and were there just to mess around in someones yard and smash some stuff up.

If the information I recently learned is correct, Park Lane workings are very close to breaking through into ridge, which of it did would mean ridge would have to be treated under law as a working mine. This could also mean it might be filled with waste stone and lost forever?

i hope not, that would be a real shame. at copenacre me and some other people climbed up the inside of the slope shaft nearest to the road, walked along the beams and the smallest one of us squeezed through one of the tiny vents that go all the way along the top of the big wall on the inside...my mate had to balance on a metal box we found to as the hole was too high up without it and the rest supported his body as he went through, there was such a massive drop below, we were crapping ourselves as it was a long way down but my mate dropped down on the inside of the building and opened one of the doors from the inside for the rest of us to get in. once inside we had a good look around and saw how hansen have been filling in so much space down there with rubble. we went back a few weeks later and they were using a cherry picker to fill in all the vents we climbed through at top of the wall so im pretty sure we are some of the last people who will ever explore in there as all the doors are locked tight and all have property of hansen stickers plastered all over them and every other way has been bricked up.

Hence the reason the red door was put on in the first place......like i said door was put on by local mine owner.....who watches the forums as well.  So creating a new topic about reopening the other Ridge slope shaft may well come and bite you on the arse.

no i dont think it would come back to bite me on the ass as the yard owners are the ones who care so what can they do if you reopen a shaft across the road from their place. people have reopened single way mine in bath so why would it be a problem doing it at ridge? removing a bunch of stone and rubble from a big hole is hardly criminal damage and as long as it keeps people who want to go down there away from the yard thats a good thing

Not talking about the yard owners.  I'm talking the chap who caused the door to be put on in the first place, but hey you seem to know better.  Carry on....

im not convinced its because of the mine owners. ridge had been open for ages and theyve never cared before so i think the story of vehicle damage may well be true but who knows

single way was never RE-OPENED I have been going in there in excess of 30 years and all that has happened is a rather large boulder in the entrance has shifted but it has always been accessible as were all the other stone quarries on the bathampton escarpment they all have bat grills on them now though!
