Similar caves to Calf Holes?

Just wondering if anyone knows of any cave that you can abseil into then walk out of similar to Calf Holes?

Arran ;)

Although there is a short up pitch near the end, Swinsto or Simpsons to Valley Entrance through trip is one example. Another
would be Yordas Cave.

Bull Pot of the Witches can be abseiled into and free-climbed out of. I concur with Yordas, though there's a lot of rigging involved (and that's 3/4 of the trip).

Depends how you rig it - if you avoid the over the top traverse on Chapterhouse and rig off a couple of bolts, abseil straight down the waterfall  - wet but fun (not ideal for going back up, obviously).

The actual question the OP raised of abseil in from the surface then walk out somewhere else is a tricky one - ianballs suggestion of Dismal-Old Ing is one of the few that fit the criteria. Heron, Swinsto and Simpson all require pull-throughs, which is a different kettle of fish to rigging one pitch and removing from the surface after the trip.

I'm not overly familiar with the Nidderdale area - I know there's walk in and SRT options to Goyden and New Goyden - it's possible something might be an option within those systems - maybe rig a pitch in Goyden, do a round trip and remove rope on way out perhaps? (someone with more knowledge will definitely provide a better answer!)

Getting deeper in to the realm of route finding, the Ease Gill system has a few options of through trips (including a couple where you more or less derig from the surface or only a short distance underground afterwards) but I guess it's not what Arran is after at this moment in time..

I suppose it depends on how you interpret the question.

If you think it means 'Do you know of any caves that you can abseil into then walk out of of a similar standard of difficulty to Calf Holes', then the answer is 'no I can't'; if you think it means 'Do you know of any caves that you can abseil into then walk (crawl/climb/whatever) out of in the way you can do at Calf Holes, whatever the difficulty of the caving involved', then there are quite a few, as shown by the answers above.

I've thought of three.

Surface abseil into Link Pot and head out of Mistral Hole, then head back to retrieve the rope.

Surface abseil into Lancaster Hole and head out of Wretched Rabbit and back for the rope.

Surface abseil down Little Douk Pot into Great Douk and back out for the rope.

I notice that the OP is also asking about places close to Ambleside.

Surface abseil into Cathedral Caverns and out along the adit.

Surface abseil into Goldscope Mine and out on the coffin level.

These are both mines, no caves to speak of in the Lakes, you can't really count the slip caves on Dove Nest Crag (Glaramara) as caves.

Dismal Hill new entrance to Old Ing.

In case you don't know it, there's no actual need to abseil into Dismal Hill - just climb down the original entrance.
Of course, if abseiling is what you want, then the above suggestion is fine.
And you don't want to be too heavily built - Mick's End is a challenge for the larger-boned.
