    An informative discussion

Recently there was long thread about the BCA. I can now post possible answers to some of the questions, such as "Why is the BCA still raising membership prices when there is a significant amount still left in its coffers?"

Just a note on the re-routing. This was due to the landslip at New Mills Central resulting in single line working through there making pathing the excursion problematic. This has meant routing the Sheffield - Piccadilly stoppers via Stockport so the service through Marple is now hourly. The remedial work is expected to end by May 7th. I think this is optimistic as the site is problematic.

Damn, that’s close to my house. If only I were retired.
I'm surprised it ran considering it was midweek in school term time. Ironically when they ran on summer Saturdays the weather was often rainy meaning thick cloud over Mam Tor and the windows were steamed up anyway whereas weather on the 17th was quite good given all the bad weather.

The residential home has a roof terrace so they can watch the cricket - when it's not raining!

......and the choo-choo trains. When young I used to go to Stockport CC on Sunday (they were really dull in the 1950's) where the Buxton line runs alongside the ground. On Sundays they played one day "Cavalier" games starring the Test players who were "pro's" in the Leagues; Sobers & Dolly played there. Anyway the thing was to land the ball onto a passing goods train - so hitting it 20 miles or so from Stockport to Buxton.
