Tresaith near Cardigan

Am off down to Tresaith near Cardigan in a couple of weeks time. I was just wondering if there are any local caves or mines worth having a look at while down there? The area is a bit out of my sphere of knowledge.

Your best bet to see anything interesting is to nip up the road and inland to visit the mines in mid Wales.  Cwmystwyth is the big one up there but I think there are access problems which someone else will hopefully tell you about.

I have a post card showing  a cave at Gwbert.

You really need:

THE CAVES OF WEST WALES - Part 1 in the Series "Limestones and Caves of South Wales"  viii + 72 pp, illus, surveys, etc.  New A4 edition 2002..  For over 120 years these caves have been visited and described by numerous writers.  The author describes over 160 caves together with location and extensive bibliography for each cave.  Covers Pendine, Tenby, Caldey, Pembroke, Cardigan up to Aberystwyth. SB

PM me for more details.

Most entrances grilled or fenced; access a sensitive matter due to periodic removal of some grilles followed by replacement by owner's agent. Lots of other mines in North Ceredigion to visit fortunately. Try asking for suggestions on aditnow or mine-explorer websites.
