Helpful title eh?

1 Some forums seem to allow modifying a post, others don't. Is this deliberate? The FAQ says we have half an hour.
2 The "position" thingy! What's all that about then?

1. Interesting - perhaps the sub-forum permissions override the general permissions? I've set the edit permission for ukcaving/idle chat forums so plz try it out :)

2. What position thingy?

I have rarely/if ever been able to edit my post in the equipment section. Other sections have been better.

The position thingy - titles like "forum abuser". I wondered if they were set up by you and if so what criteria you set. And what's a NewbieA when it's at home? I want to stop at "obsessive maniac" when I get there but I can't promise I'll stop posting.

Now to find an excuse to post to Equipment and see if you've fixed it :)

Is there one now?

There should be a "modify" link near the "quote" link.

Yup and I can use it!

I've looked into this again just now and as far as i can see, everything is set up correctly....but it doesn't seem to work for some (all?) people.

Can anyone edit posts for up to 1/2 hour after posting? Or is everyone forbidden?

Quite the contrary. Downer can do anything he likes whenever he pleases :)

Some do, some don't - it's very hit & miss; though as I'm aware I may not be able to edit what I say I try to be careful and speel check everything beforehand, check it for ty pos and gramatical mishtakes and try to phrase things carefully to avoid upsetting the fat/ugly/stupid sensitive* people on here.  :ang:

Damn, random problems are the worst to sort out.

Looking on the bright side, SMF 2.0 is at beta so hopefully before tooooo long a whole new version of the forum software will be released which will hopefully sort out many little foibles that we have :)

It'll take more than software to sort out my little foibles, I can tell you.
