I don't think it "went" anywhere particularly, they just didn't have any rain between 5th & 22nd July (see last 31 days) & then c.38mm this week:

It doesn't seem to have any major feeders, just lots of smaller ones, but no I don't believe it dried up completely

If it ever happens again it may be worth looking for a disappearing and emerging stream (towards the edges of that particular limestone outcrop). The river's source is several miles further up the dale, so I'm with you; it seems unlikely it dried up completely. Just thought it was worth flagging it up on here . . .

The Ure doesn't have any large lakes / reservoirs feeding it, unlike most other UK rivers
