I went on another trip down Swildons the other day. We wanted to have a look around the Shatter series. We went the easy way and headed there via mud sump. This was very easy as there was barely no water in the sump so no bailing!!!

Anyway we proceeded to the ladder pitch and climbed down. Is this the start of the Shatter Series? Once down there we found what we believed to be the routes on. There are many tight crawls and digs in the area that do not go anywhere and we tried them all.

Eventually we came to an awkward sort of squeeze that was in a pool of water. I went through the first part into a chamber in the middle with a passage off to the side - dead end :? I then continued through the next part of the squeeze that kind of goes straight up the far side and entered another chamber.

This chamber did not seem to go anywhere it just ended. Before the very end of the pasage there was a pool in the ground, (where else would it be?), with a diving mask next to it. I lay in the pool and felt with my legs that it went off under the rock.

Is this a sump leading to the rest of the Shatter Series?
Have I done all I can in the Shatter Series?
Was this in fact the Shatter Series?

Simply press X O O O along with the jump button, and this will unlock the rest of the cave system.

But on a serious note and not in the style of Patrick Moore (Games Master), that sump which you came to is a 3m long narrow duct which can be bailed to give some air space, the far side is a narrow chimney which leads into Pirate Chamber. At the foot of the chimney a low crawl leads into Shatter Passage then along into Shatter Chamber.
The Passchendaele series can be also entered downslope from Fracture Rift.
The damp link to Swildon's Six can also be entered from this direction (i think).

When are we going then, as i am sure it's your turn to carry the kit.

And i thought you had a private education? by the looks of your spelling and grammar you went to Grange Hill
