I would rig both Swinsto and Simpson's Pot for an exchange. A trip infrequently done but both caves are great to come out of!

I do remember well an infamous NCC celebratory trip once.

I've always wanted to put a really long bottom rope (what you might call a double lifeline) on the hard climbs at Lower Sharpnose, some truly crazy rock architecture on the North Cornwall coastline...

But if you want a cave, probably Rhino Rift if I'm being local and the one of the main descents of Gaping Gill (possibly by Rat Hole?).

Here?s another good use for 100 m new rope, albeit not quite so accessible ? the final free-hanging section (~93 m) of Torca del Carlista, which is near Matienzo.

A fantastic free-hanging pitch drops you into the Main Chamber, which is, I believe, the largest cavern in Europe ? straight through the roof, such that by the time you?ve descended 6 or 7 metres you?re scores of metres from the walls, and you just dangle there in space. Amazing!!!

I go fgor Hensler's Pot

Buzzy 18m
AC/CD 10m
Haighs Bottom 22m
Burnley 12m
Hensler's High Aven 39m

I'd have to be miserly on rope and use the Monica Pitch bypass which is a strain and probably have a nervy moment getting off at the bottom in case the rope boinged out of reach.  What is the shrinkage of the Teufelburger 9mm, hmm I wonder.

Schrumpf [%] 2 - 5

Not bad!!

Using 9mm rather than 10.5mm or 11mm though would mean I could probably fit it in one big bag rather than taking two, which means there's possibly more chance of me getting through the cave which has so far been too tough for me.  :-[  Though how having 9mm not 10.5mm will make my waist thinner I'm not sure!

There are quite a lot of shafts I could quite happily dangle 100m of rope down, but I think my present choice at the moment, assuming it is still possible to get into it, would be the climbing way at Dirtlow - three winzes with short connecting levels dropping into a large stope on top of the lava. You should be able to rig the whole lot off one bit of 100m, complete with safety lines between each winze.

If I won the rope I'd rig the East Wall route in Eldon (subject to new ground stakes). I know its not 100m but by the time the new rope had been washed and dried it would only be 90m anyway.

The reason for route choice would be so that I could rig South Gully with my old ropes and be able to decend at the same time as the missuss keeping an eye on her and coaching her in the ways of SRT. There's not many places underground where you can closely watch a novice at re-belays and deviations.

if you gave me 100m of super new 9mm i would get of my arse and go do meregill [ once washed shrunk and dried it would be perfect for pitch 3 - ( 85m requited )]

its been on my to-do list far too long - and has to be conquored this summer while the weather is good

Tech spec for the Platinum 9 mm gives a shrinkage of 2%-5% hence after wash/shrinking the 100 m would, worst case, reduce to 95 m, not 85 m.

This may not sound heroic or epic unlike other entries... but Kingsdale mastercave roof traverse... just because as short arse caver its fun to, preferably not because we are trying to escape high water levels.... admittedly I would need a little more rope!

i'd go and rig the 20ft pitch in swildons with all 100m, leaving a spaghetti nest of rope sitting at the bottom of the pitch.

that's the way to do it isn't it? :coffee:

Always have been denied by high water, and with 100m of shiny new rope will now be able to reach the bottom of it too! Added bonus is the final rinse the rope will get on the way down.

Perhaps instead of leaving a spaghetti nest at the bottom, you could perhaps rig a short-ish pitch several times with all 100m of rope - so that several people can be SRT-ing at the same time. Could reduce delays going up or down a pitch if in a big group, and add entertainment value to a trip. ;)

It's unsuitable for SRT since the bolts give a hang which is into water. Rigging without using the in-situ bolts gives a better SRT route but requires some ingenuity but still gets in the way of people using L&L and the bolts; additional bolting would result in a better roped/SRT route.

Take the 100m of rope and make a rope ladder for the 20ft pitch then :) or possibly a big wide cargo-net type thing so several people can climb at once...

don't know how deep this is but 100m could be used to traverse some of the crater of Mare Tranquillitatis pit

i'd use it to see how many people I could get skipping on the same rope at once.. current world record is 300..

I was gonna say I'd donate it to re-rig the Chert hall big pitch in Giants and replace the 20 year old 8mm cord thats belayed to corroded krabs and a rather dodgy re belay thats attached to rusty angle iron  .But as its been re rigged and re bolted recently I will have to donate it to my own private rope stash.

As its 9mm it would be the perfect thing to bring to the end of Echo, Broken finger or any other black book caves that annoyingly has to have the big pitches at the end of the cave. Imagine lugging 100m of 10.5 through those places!
