Young Winston - some archive photos

I found this and posted it on the WCMS forum, but thought you would like to see it as well. While most of you will know that Penwyllt featured in an episode of Torchwood not so long ago, a few might not be aware that Penwyllt was also the location chosen to film the attack on an armoured train in the film Young Winston. The filming took place in 1970 when the railway was still in place up to the quarry, although passenger traffic ceased in 1962. Here are some colour photos from the film set. Some of the shots were at Colbren junction to the south, but the action shots I think I recognise as being south of the bridge near the old brickworks. The bare hillside in some of the photos on one side of the track is now dense forestry!
