Non SRT Northern Spain

Hi all,

Myself and my partner are spending a couple weeks in Northern Spain later this month and hoping to get some caving in. To keep our luggage at a minimum (we only have a smallish van!!) we're looking at non-SRT caves.

We've ordered the Matienzo project book from Inglesport (just waiting for it to arrive!) & the guys on fb have given me some links for the caves in the Matienzo area which I'm working my way through ... but there's a lot to work through!

So, I was just wondering if any of you had any recommendations or "must do" caves without any SRT in Asturias/Cantabria regions?

Thanks  ;)

A cave which needs to be re-visited (perhaps for the first time in 50 years if you get to Sump 2) is La Boriza. In Asturias but outside the National Park, it?s a resurgence cave with a very nice sporting streamway, not strictly non-SRT as there are three short pitches to be climbed (approximately 10m, 7m, and 4m - the last is the most technical and seems to have stopped others). With a diver in the team there should be lots of fresh passage to be explored. Best in dry weather.

Thanks all! Will check out the suggestions and also look at the coasts more than I have - looked from a surfing POV but not caving
