    An informative discussion

Recently there was long thread about the BCA. I can now post possible answers to some of the questions, such as "Why is the BCA still raising membership prices when there is a significant amount still left in its coffers?"

Court date set for BCA CROW case

The High Court in Cardiff has now set a date for the judicial review brought by the BCA which will, we hope, resolve the longstanding question as to whether caving should be covered by CROW Act 2000.

The hearing, which has been listed for two days, starts on 21st July. We will be represented by our barrister, Annabel Graham-Paul, who following the years of preparatory work done by the likes of Stuart France, Tim Allen and Bob Mehew, has drafted an excellent and cogent Statement of Facts and Reasons in which we set our claim. Our solicitor, Richard Buxton, has also done a great job.

There will be a lot more to do before the hearing, and we are still arguing over the disclosure of documents that we say we should be able to see before it takes place, but it's good to know that we are now working towards a firm date.

Thank you for the update David and thank you to Stuart, Tim, Bob and every other person involved in getting us to this point (and in no small part yourself and your sister).

Let us hope the 21st July 2021 marks a day in history that cavers can celebrate

Fingers firmly crossed. A few years ago, other joints would have joined in but would now need major surgery to allow it.
