    An informative discussion

Recently there was long thread about the BCA. I can now post possible answers to some of the questions, such as "Why is the BCA still raising membership prices when there is a significant amount still left in its coffers?"

My partner and I are booking a holiday to the Azores in January 2019. Could anyone give me some info on caving there? Other than show caves are others accessible and are permits required etc?

We went to the Azores some years ago but stayed on Sao Miguel which didn't have any obvious lava tubes. However several of the islands have and there is an active group. We planned to go back sometime but haven't made it yet. Milch of the SMCC met some Azores cavers when he was there a few years ago. I get regular emails from the group out there as I signed up to it - they are in Portugeses but would be the obvious point of contact. Here is the URL: http://www.montanheiros.com/. They are a pretty active group not only caving but outdoor activities in general. If you scuba dive the diving on the Azores is good as well.
