Came up to Castleton with aim of shopping (succesful) and to visit Oxlow (and/or Giants).

There was no sign of life at Oxlow Farm (apart from the menagerie of cats, chickens & dog) - not wishing to trespass we chose to visit Giants instead and had a good trip to East Canal/round trip.

What is the procedure for access to Oxlow when there is no one to contact? - (farnhouse gave the impression of being a bit run down.)

I've asked the farmer at Oxlow Farm what to do when he's not around and he asked for the money to be left by the back door (I usually leave it on the window sill).

He's very friendly by the way and when the space through the gateway in the small area by the road is empty (currently a four-wheeel drive for sale and a skip!), for a quid per car he lets you park there which is safer than by the stile down the road.
