    An informative discussion

Recently there was long thread about the BCA. I can now post possible answers to some of the questions, such as "Why is the BCA still raising membership prices when there is a significant amount still left in its coffers?"

Cave Leader Training Courses - Level 1 & 2

There are places available on a level 1 LCMLA training course on 29th/30th October.  Although these courses are intended for cave leaders it is an excellent foundation course for anyone new to caving.  The cost is ?120.  Local caving club accommodation can be arranged if necessary (?5 per night).
The course will be based on Mendip and will cover a wide variety of essential topics.  It's all practical underground stuff rather than classroom based.

There is also a level 2 course running on 3rd/4th December.  This covers lots of really useful stuff relating to vertical techniques.  You need to have basic proficiency in SRT.  It's all about getting non SRT cavers safely up and down - essential skills if you are leading groups into caves with ladder pitches.
