there's the wording on the BCA card (?SURFACE and underground caving ACTIVITIES?) and in the Q31 in the BCA's PL FAQ?s regarding NON-CAVERS membership the only thing i could find in the BCA 2019 FAQ's refers to training as "NON-caving activities", the bca card covers "caving activities" š
.Ā So i was struggling to CLEARLY PROVE to a centre we have PL insurance to train there.
Howard Jones, BCA insurance manager, was able to direct me to a link on the BCA's site to the Broker's confirmation of cover. He's caving atm so hasn't been able to go into it too much but i appreciated him taking the time.
It states ?Any activity recognised or approved by the insured, including but not limited to:
... caving for a pastime ...associated pursuits with instructions and other activities relative to the general encouragement of...sporting caving and mine research.?
That?s the closest it comes to mentioning training.
However David Botcherby, CHECC president, pointed me to the "Guidelines for Higher Education Caving Clubs" in which on page 4, under insurance, it says:
"BCA insurance covers all recognized caving activities and those related to the sport.... Above-ground training activities, such as use of climbing walls, trees etc. are also covered by the policy."
Botch also pointed me to a link to these guidelines on the BCA website so to the climbing wall it should all look pretty legit.
