The Met Office has just issued a warning that "out door activities could be disrupted".
Should we ask them if this includes Caving ?
They might have the definitive  answer we all seek!

All this dire warning stuff about the weather: here is Sussex today the weather it pretty much like it is in Wales half the time I go caving - nothing I haven't seen many times before. Horribly wet and windy.  :yucky:

Stream passages here in the Peak will be 'sporting' today ;)
would garlands pot be considered 'a passage?' or a pot?
came close to losing a good set of gear and half a rope there once

So if bad weather disrupts  outdoor activities and we know it disrupts  Caving.
It stands to reason that Caving is an outdoor activity !

Yeah, but...

wasn't the phrase of interest "open air"?

Everything would be more clear cut if it had been "outdoor"

If I had been foolish enough to go caving today then it would most certainly be considered an outdoor activity. There are very few more extreme outdoor activities than getting changed, after a caving trip, on a very wet and windy fell-side!

Bet it's a bit damp for the Craven...

Damp's OK, it's the draughtiness that's the main concern.

Good luck with the dig Simon; we've also got various projects which would benefit from a good flush.
