Now I can see why caves could be thought of as geologically interesting or even physically challenging but creepy? Seems too close to the realm of the over-hysterical to be honest. It's just holes in stones when push comes to shove...

I think it was written by a caver to scare non cavers he does use some caving terminology but adds its meaning in brackets for the most it is one of the more well known creepy pastas so named as they are copied and pasted 1000s of times. i think this one originated in about 2004.     

Thanks for relocating it. It was at a different URL originally and I think the original posting about it was in the non caving press. I thought it was genuinely spooky and epistolary style suited it. Very HP Lovecraft.
