Title: Buxton Spa Express 29/09/2021 Date correction
Post by: Mrs Trellis on September 06, 2021, 12:37:08 pm
This train traverses much of the Peak District  including up and down the Hope Valley line, the Dowlow freight line, the New Mills triangle, and the Buxton - Manchester line.

Unfortunately the itinerary doesn't give the time of arrival at Buxton for its three hour stay. I imagine it's something like 1 - 4pm.

Quick update - there's a website which gives stopping times for all trains including these excursions:- RealTime trains:- https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/. At the moment they have the Buxton times as arrive 13:24 depart 15:39.

There is another website Rail advent which publishes the complete itinerary including passing times nearer the event:- https://www.railadvent.co.uk/events/buxton-spa-express-hereford-buxton-2

It's been re-routed from Buxton. It's going via the Dowlow/Peak Forest freight line to Chinley then down through New Mills Central  to Guide Bridge where it reverses and back up through New Mills Central and along the Hope Valley line to Sheffield.

Having left Buxton at 15:40 it finally arrives in Hereford at 00:30 next day. You get your money's worth if you board at Hereford.

Video here:- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EgSrl8WF0AM&ab_channel=KevinDaily

The reason for the late arrival in Buxton (over an hour) was waiting for a "path" on the single line through Great Rocks Dale.

I bet they got a bit bored with that bit of Buxton next to the sidings.  There are more videos on youtube for those interested. Grindleford, Dronfield, and Chesterfield feature.
