    BCA pros and cons

Tongue out of cheek for a moment... It's a valid point but not 100% true, if you want to compete at comps you need to be a member (if memory serves), and you need to join (just for the one year mind) if you want any of the MLT courses, but yes, it's a very different concept.

    Dumb phone recommendation

That's the company that makes the M7. They talk the talk (excuse the pun) on their website.

    Dumb phone recommendation

    Sporadic? Or specific?

    Dumb phone recommendation

After a dumb phone for work. Priorities are: Physical keyboard Waterproof/impact resistant (IP68/9) Dual sim plus SD card slot Unlocked to all UK networks 4G (5G a bonus) Apps not necessary Replaceable battery ideally USB-C The Cat B40 fits the bill. Any users? Various searches throw up...

    County Pot ropes

At the risk of going round in circles... You'd better be absolutely sure you can confirm it. And relative to the cave in question, good luck with that. Fully comprehend point 7. It shouldn't be necessary. You leave the rope in place until due notice is given (as per the OP starting the thread)...

    County Pot ropes

How are you going to confirm someone or some team aren't on the downward end of a rope? You can't. So leave well alone should be the advice.

    County Pot ropes

    6. The CNCC supports any cavers who choose to remove a rope that is confirmed to be dangerous or abandoned (no problem so far) and not in use by anyone presently underground... (you'd better be bloody sure!). 7. Anyone leaving a rope in a cave should do so expecting that others may use that...

    County Pot ropes

Points 6 & 7 need a rethink...! Or rather parts of.

Thanks Pitlamp. Re: the articles you mention, do you know any references I could look for?

    Gilbert Boldock enquiry

Thanks Mark. Found quite a few of Gilbert in the Clarke collection. On the BCRA archive is it just a case of open a collection and 'look' or is there a search function (that I can't see)?.
