Another Petzl harness recall

Product: Astro and Canyon Guide Harnesses

Hazard: The affected products present a risk of injuries due to the detection of a defect on the gated opening attachment point of an ASTRO harness

The defect is due to a poor machining process of the metal D. This can cause the pin to slide completely sideways, despite the presence of the 2 screws.

Edit: I've just noticed that this dates to October 2023, but has only just shown up on the UK Government's web site https://www.gov.uk/product-safety-a...rt-astro-and-canyon-guide-harnesses-2402-0115

I can't find any way to delete the post.

Well if it's consolation, it's that we're at least three months faster than the government. They don't deserve capital letters anymore. But I have an Astro, though too old to be affected by this defect. But I tested the potential for failure the day I bought it, just out of interest, as it looked the most likely fail point, with a two-part construction.

Ironically Petzl comment on durability and quality are missing a letter from the first word of the text 🤣 https://m.petzl.com/US/en/Sport/News/2023-11-14/Reinventing-The-Way-You-Rack

DURABILITY
t seems like things don’t last as long as they used to. The desire to keep costs low has led other companies to sacrifice a percentage of quality in their products. Petzl doesn’t believe in lowering our standards for the sake of profits
