A couple of popped through Rhosydd last night to check the boat ready for a potential trip next week. Just as well too, as it was barely afloat. It clearly hadn't been used since the NWCRO call out of a couple of weeks, as it was still on the Croesor side. Someone with the best of intentions...

Actually, most plausible is that it hasn't been sold at all. (Coupled with some wishful thinking.) Do you actually have any hard facts?

Don't try it now while the bats are resident, but we also opened up the shaft next to the Bidston tidal experiment area (cleared the rubbish from the bottom). It drops to Parc 3 a few metres upstream of the usual ore hopper. Really nice ab down, though could do with a deviation to stop the rope...

Guilty as charged. We tried to divert the water into drainpipes to make it more comfortable when we first dropped the shaft. There was a lot of debris to clear so it took a few visits. At the time, we had no idea we were going to drop into Parc 3 so it was rather a surprise when Simon and I...

Sadly, we noticed on our last trip through (a couple of months back) that there's been a collapse there. At least I'm pretty sure it was that section. You can still get along 2 but not up the ladders to see the wagon.

Chris, was this the wet shaft with pipework visible when looking up through the drips, and lots of timber piled to the side of the level? If so, it's the old ladderway from which we "borrowed" the ladders that now fill the gaps in the ladderway down from Parc 2. In our defence, they were hanging...

There's also a wagon underwater on a flooded incline off Parc 3. You need to hold a decent torch below the surface to see it, and to do so quickly before the mud that you've stirred up clouds the water.

(I should check the forum more often.) It's my theory that this would have joined up with one of the bat castles - the one between the forestry track and nearby house, beside the remains of a large settling pool. I believe that the flood that resulted in the building of the surge dam came from...
